Like I mentioned last week, it has been tough to make time to learn the harmonica. My schedule has been full with school, work, and other responsibilities. Today I finally sat down and practiced.

I tried to learn The House of the Rising Sun. I followed a version of the song that shows the notes rather than the original recording. That helped me slow things down and focus on where to move next. I wore headphones so I could listen closely while I played along.

Some of the transitions were difficult. Moving between notes quickly is still a challenge, and I had to stop and restart a few times. Even so, it went better than I expected. I was able to follow most of the song and keep the general rhythm.

I am still very much in the early stages. The more I practice, the more I realize how much control and timing the harmonica requires. Small movements make a big difference in the sound. It is frustrating at times, but also motivating. Each attempt feels a little more familiar than the last.

Here is the trimmed video of me practicing, as the whole video was too large.
